Government Relations Lead.

The Government Relations Lead will oversee Click Learning’s engagement with government stakeholders to ensure effective programme implementation and alignment with provincial education priorities. This role will focus on facilitating communication, tracking reporting frequency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and cultivating strong relationships with key government officials and stakeholders. The Government Relations Lead will coordinate activities, monitor engagement progress, and ensure timely follow-up on actions. The role requires close collaboration with the Direct Operations team to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and provide strategic support for policy and programme alignment initiatives. Additionally, the Lead will ensure that all activities are tracked according to the agreed framework, including tracking interactions, ensuring that SteerCo at the provincial and district levels are well-organized, and the outcomes are followed through.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Click Learning’s government relations strategy
  • Coordinate communication with local and provincial government officials.
  • Manage and track interactions with key government stakeholders, ensuring that engagements are documented and followed up as per the established framework.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of key government contacts and interaction records.
  • Support relationship-building efforts by organizing events, workshops, and forums for government collaboration.
  • Track and summarize key education policies, legislation, and government priorities affecting Click Learning’s programmes.
  • Assist in preparing policy briefs, reports, and presentations for internal teams and government stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of submissions, proposals, and other required documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor deadlines for regulatory reporting and assist in preparing necessary submissions.
  • Coordinate administrative tasks related to government approvals, including collating necessary documentation.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure programme delivery aligns with government expectations and policies.
  • Facilitate feedback loops between Click Learning and government stakeholders to improve programme implementation.
  • Provide logistical support for government visits, training sessions, and programme-related workshops, ensuring that all materials and reports are prepared and tracked.
  • Maintain accurate records of government engagements, correspondence, and official documents.
  • Document meeting outcomes, ensuring that follow-up actions are tracked, executed, and reported within the agreed framework.
  • Prepare stakeholder engagement reports for internal and external review.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree (or diploma) in public policy, political science, education, administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in government relations, stakeholder engagement, or administrative support in the education or non-profit sectors.
  • Knowledge of South Africa’s education system, government structures, and policy landscape.
  • Experience working with government officials and understanding regulatory processes is an advantage.
