Research Assistant.

As the Research Assistant at Click Learning, you’ll play a key role in uncovering insights that shape the future of education technology in under resourced schools in South Africa. From conducting research and analyzing data to supporting fieldwork and reporting, your work will directly inform how we enhance literacy and numeracy programs for learners.

Starting Date: 1 May 2025
Direct Report: Senior Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support & undertake fieldwork activities, including liaising with partner schools and educator, and visiting schools
  • Conduct field visits to monitor program activities, collect data and validate data accuracy.
  • Coordinate with program teams, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to support evaluation activities.
  • Conduct research on topics related to education & digital learning
  • Assist in designing research methodologies and data collection instruments to assess program effectiveness.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from program participants and stakeholders.
  • Identify trends, challenges, and areas for program improvement.
  • Ensure data quality and compliance with ethical research standards.
  • Assist in drafting research reports, policy briefs, and presentations based on program findings.
  • Support the development of reports and presentations to communicate findings.
  • Maintain research documentation and ensure compliance with ethical research guidelines.
  • Stay up to date with developments in education technology and literacy/numeracy interventions.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Have at least an Honours degree in Economics, Education, Linguistics, Social Sciences or a related discipline. Candidates studying towards or who already have completed their Masters will have an advantage.
  • At least 6 months work or volunteer experience in the education or community development sector.
  • Experience in research, large scale data collection, and quantitative analysis
  • Experience working in education technology or social development is an advantage.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and car
  • Willingness to travel in South Africa to schools for field work
  • Ability to speak, read and write in isiXhosa. Additional languages are an advantage.

  • Annual leave: 20 days, of which 10 should be used in the annual shut down over December.
  • We value our hybrid work arrangement (2 days from home, 3 days from the East London office). Note that fieldwork visits take place at schools.
